Centuries of tobacco and coal smoke, as well as darkened linseed oil from earlier restoration efforts were carefully removed from this painting dating from the mid to late 1700's, revealing the vivid colors hidden underneath. Color and detail were restored where they were lost when the canvas was folded and stored. Finally the painting was revarnished to protect the restored painting for future generations.
